Public Relations Plan
Two Media Exposure Ideas
On-Campus “Mindfulness Day” with Guided Sessions
Student “Mindful Ambassador” Program with Wellness Talks
To promote "Mindful IU," a university health service dedicated to improving students' mental well-being, it's important to choose public relations tactics that connect with the student community and offer real value. Since students often juggle academics, work, and personal responsibilities, a public relations strategy that is relatable and accessible will be most effective. Below are two ideas to increase awareness, boost participation, and strengthen Mindful IU's mission of supporting student wellness

Hosting a Mindfulness Day on campus would be an impactful way to introduce Mindful IU. The event could include free guided meditation sessions, stress-relief workshops, and wellness talks, giving students a chance to experience the benefits of mindfulness first-hand. Faculty members, counselors, and wellness coaches could lead the sessions, allowing students to engage with professionals who support their mental health

The Mindful Ambassador Program would recruit students passionate about mental health and mindfulness to represent and promote Mindful IU. These ambassadors could host wellness talks, lead informal group discussions, or visit classrooms to introduce the program and discuss mindfulness. This initiative fosters peer engagement and highlights Mindful IU as a student-
driven effort.
"By using these two public relations strategies, Mindful IU can enhance its visibility, increase
participation, and establish itself as a trusted resource for student mental health on campus."

WHY THEY WORK:
Idea 1: On-Campus “Mindfulness Day” with Guided Sessions
A Mindfulness Day would let students experience Mindful IU's services directly. Events like this often attract media attention, especially when tied to student wellness, which is a growing focus in higher education. The event could get coverage from campus newspapers, local news, and regional media, increasing Mindful IU’s credibility as a valuable
resource while helping students connect with the program.
Idea 2: Student “Mindful Ambassador” Program with Wellness Talks
Students are more likely to trust and engage with initiatives led by their peers.
Ambassadors would help build awareness of Mindful IU in a more relatable, less formal way.
Wellness talks hosted by ambassadors could attract media coverage, and ambassadors would
continue to promote the program throughout the semester, keeping it visible and accessible to
both new and returning students
